Organizations realize the time is now to move to a new deployment model. Digital transformation and proliferation of devices have put IT departments in the spotlight: They must move away from being linear, traditional controllers and evolve into modern transformers that are agile, flexible, and employee centric. PC-as-a-service (PCaaS) has emerged as the go-to model for IT because of the level of automation, efficiency, and employee empowerment it offers. None of this can be accomplished without a competent business partner that underpins the new customized, deployment model. In February 2019, Dell commissioned Forrester Consulting to evaluate employee experience and enterprise computing. Forrester conducted an online survey with 1,186 IT leaders across the globe to understand current PC lifecycle management deployment models.

Today’s IT leaders don’t have the time nor the resources to effectively respond to the needs of their ever-demanding workforce. It’s time for CIOs to stop running the IT department and start transforming the business; only through transforming the way in which they deploy and service the workforce can CIOs accomplish this paramount task.Organizations must now embrace a future that improves the workforce experience in order to offload cumbersome and time-intensive tasks. With IT becoming more integrated and a strategic partner to the lines of business (LOBs), offloading and embracing new technologies that enable employee experience is a logical step.

Using cloud is the norm for businesses today, and expectations are high for these investments to create real business results. This sentiment is clear in TBR’s recent cloud adoption research: 83% of respondents indicated their organization is investing in IT for innovation. These expectations have led to the emergence of hybrid cloud environments, with organizations investing in various public and hosted cloud options, as well as building their own private clouds. While hybrid cloud adoption is increasing as organizations aim to enhance the value of their existing deployments, hybrid cloud also creates complexities for IT leaders. The road to cloud adoption is paved, but the path to ROI isn’t always as clear. With only 19% of respondents indicating their organization has a mature cloud strategy, there is work to be done to establish a winning approach that gives organizations the flexibility, agility, security, control, and cost savings they expect.

Despite shrinking budgets and overstretched staff, IT is increasingly relied on to drive enterprise growth, innovation, and revenue. By 2023, 65% of CIOs are expected to serve as entrepreneurial leaders — growth-drivers who evolve their organizations into centers of excellence that engineer enterprise-wide collaboration and innovation 1. What does this mean for you? Well, if you’re in IT, it means you’re destined to do great things for your company (if you aren’t already). But it also means you and your data center have to be faster, more flexible, and more efficient with your IT spend. A subscription-based model might be the answer.
