In the digital era, a skilled and effective workforce is essential and the technology to support them is equally vital. It’s the task of technology decision makers to provide every worker with an ecosystem of hardware, software and additional equipment that maximizes each worker’s ability to contribute to the organization. In the search to uncover the facts about worker experience across a broad range of global regions and industries, a survey commissioned by Dell points the way to greater worker effectiveness and organizational competitiveness. The survey found that motivation and engagement are keys to optimizing the performance of every workforce member. And motivation and engagement, in turn, are fueled by technology that meets user needs for power, durability and convenience.

"Most organizations today rely on virtualized IT infrastructures. Veeam® helps them to provide and increase Availability of critical workloads running on their systems. Due to various factors, some physical servers cannot be virtualized, along with endpoints that might not be protectable in their entirety by leveraging back up solutions built for virtualized systems. Thus, everyday occurrences such as lapses in connectivity, hardware failures, file corruption, ransomware or even theft can leave an organization’s data at risk. Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows solves these issues by closing the gap that some enterprises face with large, heterogeneous environments and further enabling workload mobility by delivering Availability for cloud-based workloads. This paper describes: - the main concepts behind Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows - how agents can be managed centrally by integration into Veeam Backup & Replication™ - and more!"

Security is a looming issue for businesses. The threat landscape is increasing, and attacks are becoming more sophisticated. Emerging technologies like IoT, mobility, and hybrid IT environments now open new business opportunity, but they also introduce new risk. Protecting servers at the software level is no longer enough. Businesses need to reach down into the physical system level to stay ahead of threats. With today’s increasing regulatory landscape, compliance is more critical for both increasing security and reducing the cost of compliance failures. With these pieces being so critical, it is important to bring new levels of hardware protection and drive security all the way down to the supply chain level. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has a strategy to deliver this through its unique server firmware protection, detection, and recovery capabilities, as well as its HPE Security Assurance.

Many premises-based phone system (PBX) manufacturers claim that the five year costs of their systems are lower than an equivalent cloud alternative. What the premises guys don’t tell you about is all the extra little hidden costs that come as a result of the limitations of the hardware and software in their systems. This guide will provide you with useful questions to ask your PBX manufacturer to ensure that you're getting the full picture on the cost of their system. Questions to Ask During an Evaluation: • Have you sized this system for my peak demand? • Have you factored in the cost of site redundancy? • How many hours of call recording are included? • How is mobility supported? Do calls route in an out of the PBX for call treatment? • What are the annual maintenance costs of the hardware and software in this system? • Which third party systems have you integrated this PBX with?

Oracle has just announced a new microprocessor, and the servers and engineered system that are powered by it. The SPARC M8 processor fits in the palm of your hand, but it contains the result of years of co-engineering of hardware and software together to run enterprise applications with unprecedented speed and security. The SPARC M8 chip contains 32 of today’s most powerful cores for running Oracle Database and Java applications. Benchmarking data shows that the performance of these cores reaches twice the performance of Intel’s x86 cores. This is the result of exhaustive work on designing smart execution units and threading architecture, and on balancing metrics such as core count, memory and IO bandwidth. It also required millions of hours in testing chip design and operating system software on real workloads for database and Java. Having faster cores means increasing application capability while keeping the core count and software investment under control. In other words, a boost

Datacenter improvements have thus far focused on cost reduction and point solutions. Server consolidation, cloud computing, virtualization, and the implementation of flash storage capabilities have all helped reduce server sprawl, along with associated staffing and facilities costs. Converged systems — which combine compute, storage, and networking into a single system — are particularly effective in enabling organizations to reduce operational and staff expenses. These software-defined systems require only limited human intervention. Code imbedded in the software configures hardware and automates many previously manual processes, thereby dramatically reducing instances of human error. Concurrently, these technologies have enabled businesses to make incremental improvements to customer engagement and service delivery processes and strategies.
